There must have been something in the water at Anfield because Ian Rush as a Liverpool player was devastating, while for others he was just another striker.
Okay, so he topped the all-time scoring chart for Wales with 28 goals in 73 appearances, but that return is nothing compared to the club record 346 goals he banged in for the Reds during his two spells at the club.
Rush was never blessed with great pace or athleticism. Instead he relied on excellent positional awareness and an ability to finish clinically off both feet or with his head.
Playing in the dominant Liverpool team of the 1980s and early 90s helped as well.
A move to Italy, to play for Juventus, didn't work out for a variety of reasons (although none of them to do with his famous, if purely tongue in cheek, quote that being in Turin was 'like living in a foreign country').
But for Liverpool, he always delivered and his place among the greatest of Kop legends is assured.
