Few players epitomise the highs and lows of a professional football like Fernando Torres.
But a big money move to Chelsea and a series of injuries has left Torres's latter career under something of a cloud.
Torres started his career at Atletico Madrid and progressed steadily after making his debut at the age of 17. The goals started to come and so did the attention – especially from a certain Roman Abramovich, the Chelsea owner.
But it was to Liverpool that Torres eventually went and his four seasons at Anfield were spectacular. He scored 81 goals in 142 appearances and formed an almost telepathic partnership with Kop legend Steven Gerrard.
Abramovich finally got his man in the transfer window of January 2011. It cost the club £50million and Torres has struggled to justify the price tag ever since.
Important Chelsea goals have come his way however – none more so than the second goal in Chelsea's epic 2-2 draw against Barcelona in the Nou Camp that took Chelsea to the 2012 Champions League final.
